How 4M Controls Ltd looks after the information you give us when you use Aonfinn. Written in plain English so you can actually read it.
Who we are
Aonfinn is a product of 4M Controls Ltd. We decide how your information is used and we're responsible for keeping it safe.
What we hold
- Your account — your email address, an encrypted form of your password, and your two-factor security setup.
- Your work — the vessels, equipment lists, and cost-benefit scenarios you create or upload, and the edits you make to them.
- How the site is used — page views, counted with a privacy-friendly, cookie-free tool we run on our own server. No third-party advertising trackers.
- Error reports — if something breaks, a technical report is sent to our error-tracking tool so we can fix it. We strip out personal details from these.
Why we hold it
To give you the service, keep your account secure, and improve how Aonfinn works (see the next section). We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Improving our products
We use the technical and commercial information on the platform — vessel details, cost-benefit scenarios, and (later) measurements — to understand how hybrid marine power performs and to improve our products, including our forecasting models. For this we work with combined, anonymised data, with personal details removed. We never show one company's data to another; only aggregated insight is used. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in improving the service, and it's set out in your agreement with us.
Who helps us run it
A few trusted suppliers process data on our behalf, under contract:
- Hetzner — hosting, in Germany.
- Resend — sends account emails (sign-in links, invites).
- Sentry — collects the technical error reports above.
- Umami — the cookie-free page-view counter, which we host ourselves.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your work for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data, keeping only what the law requires us to.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email info@4mcontrols.com and we'll sort it out.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you signed in. Our page-view counting sets no cookies.
